Collaboration with Chimène Wiersma
How many times a day do we play together and share together? For Sofie and Chimène, the answer is: at every moment of the day. The empty milk carton in the fridge, a spinning LP on the record player, an empty cigarette box, an unsent letter, a ringing telephone, a dirty cup of coffee, a wet kitchen roll or a sandwich with peanut butter. These are examples of playing and sharing with them.
Sofie and Chimène seek the sacredness of everyday life in small connections. By intertwining their practices, they build a bridge between sculpture and painting. In doing so, they also connect with each other, creating a shared artwork.
What is it like to share? We are connected to each other every day, but how do we remain connected when we cannot see one another? These ceramic sculptures are an example of connecting with another in a playful way, encountering the traces left behind by another that you share and play together with. Ceramic everyday objects, by Sofie, with paintings of interaction, by Chimène, are an example of how we connect with each other every day. How do you connect with each other?
