ARTIST STATEMENT

Have you ever gone to the supermarket for some groceries without a shopping list beforehand? I always think I know what I want when I see it in the supermarket. Once home, I realized I've bought a few completely different ingredients. They shouldn't go together at all. Because of this, I sometimes eat strange combinations. Sometimes good, sometimes a little questionable. Using this approach to art creates the freedom for experimentation. I grab some objects and move them around, or I try a new technique, and the craziest combinations can emerge. After reflection, I can decide whether or not I need to change the recipe. For me, art is a playground with endless possibilities.

Using objects around me is a direct reflection of the world I live in. By searching for complexity in mundane objects, often related to the domestic environment, I create an estranged and yet familiar image. By transforming preexisting objects and playing with their function, I hope to arouse curiosity about what lies behind the obvious.

Through my obsession with paradoxes and contradictions, irony, and duality, I explore multiple perspectives in one work, urging the viewer to interpret the work and ask questions.
